Of all the social networks I use, I found Twitter the toughest to dive into. The reason for this is I had the mindset of "Who Cares?" Who cares if I woke up this morning 5 minutes late, ate eggs for breakfast, wrote a contract, closed on a house, etc, etc, etc.? Well, I got past that after a while after I really learned the right way to use Twitter. So, here are some practical applications for Realtors to use Twitter to help grow their businesses.
Use Twitter to gather information about the needs and wants of your target market. Consumers talk publicly on Twitter, all you have to do is listen (well, read – but you get the idea). Twitter is an incredible tool to use to research your target market.
Twitter is real time and you can use the information flying around Twitter to help you do your job. Keep up to date with the latest real estate news, the economy, latest technologies, or the movers and shakers of our industry.
Use Twitter to share information with your target market. Answer questions, share links and the latest news. Write your blog posts or articles about your market's concerns and share your links on Twitter. If you become the source for information for your community, your number of followers will skyrocket.
Twitter is a fantastic way to build relationships with your target market. Start following members of your target market (doctors, lawyers, real estate investors, etc) and interact with them. It will take a while to build trust and develop the relationship online, but it will payoff in the long run.
Use Twitter to get found on Google. All tweets are indexed by the search engine giant and will show up in their search results.
So, use the above ideas to get started on Twitter. Follow others and they will follow you back. Follow back those who follow you – it is the polite thing to do. Over time your list of followers on Twitter will grow exponentially, and you'll notice that your checkbook is growing along with it.
